English I students finished a two-day analysis project in which they looked at the role allusions can play in the development of an artistic creation: The Police song “Wrapped Around Your Finger.”

It will be part of a final research project option we’ll be working on next week.

English 8 students spent a little more time than usual on the article of the week because we went over last week’s article and looked at the annotations of some students who consistently create stellar annotations. We then had a short discussion about autism (which will be the topic of the next nonfiction piece we look at) before having a bit of time for independent reading for this quarter’s first one-pager.

Homework

  • English 8:
    • students who have not turned in the Nightjohn final project need to do so (it is already late);
    • work on the article of the week as necessary;
    • read for the one-pager as needed.
  • English I Honors:
    • read “Father and Son” and “The Beggar at the Manor” from the Odyssey. (This is pages 58-66 on the PDF. However, if you’re looking at the actual book page numbers on the bottom of the page, it’s pages 1242-1250.)
    • work on the article of the week as necessary;
    • read for the one-pager as needed.
