English I students continued with Great Expectation by asking the question of how the point of view affects our view of the narrator’s life. Specifically, students used four questions to guide their thinking:

  1. What is the point of view in the novel?
  2. What other points of view could this story be told from?
  3. Why is that vital to the novel?
  4. How does it shape how we see Pip? Ms. Havisham? Estella?

We’ll be continuing tomorrow.

English 8 students finished working on 1.5 from The Diary of Anne Frank. Students looked at how Anne’s Hanukkah gifts communicated secondary, symbolic messages.

Homework

  • English 8: begin preparing for the act 1 test on The Diary of Anne Frank, which will be Monday or Tuesday.
  • English I Honors: continue with the next ten chapters of Great Expectations.
