First and sixth periods read an informational text about Hanukkah in preparation for tomorrow’s final scene of act one. We also used the Written Conversation engagement to prepare for a short class discussion we’ll have tomorrow before beginning the scene.

Second and fourth periods watched act one of Romeo and Juliet in the form of Baz Lurhmann’s Romeo + Juliet. I have to congratulate all the students: we had a 100% return rate on the permission slips, with the last one coming in just at the deadline. The viewing guide is available here.

Seventh period reviewed the CRAP test again before working to turn our practice notes into full sentences.

Homework
  • First and sixth periods: remember that the letter to someone you admire is due Friday.
  • Second and fourth periods:
    • review the responses to the essay questions from last week;
    • use the rubric on that forum to help you evaluate/rate (you’ll see a little drop-down box with options 1-5 in it) at least ten responses.
  • Seventh period: turn the fifth and final note into a full sentence.
