English 8 students worked on another Schaffer paragraph, a final paragraph before we will have a final assessment on the unit. This time, students worked with very little help except the aid they could provide each other.

English I students began the second cycle of short stories and analytic paragraphs, this time focusing on the effects a story’s point of view can have on the narrative. We began by looking at the story “In the Family,” and we conducted a Socratic Seminar to discuss the curiosities of the story.

• English 8: complete the final commentary for your paragraph (sixth period only).
• English I Honors: 
  • write a few thoughts about how we could explain the oddities of the story without resorting to the supernatural;
  • complete the “Dangerous Game” paragraph assessments (as necessary).
