English I students began the final work for the first part of the Odyssey, looking at the Police‘s song “Wrapped Around Your Finger,” a song rich with allusions to the Odyssey and other works.

English 8 students finished up text structure, doing a gallery walk and a Kahoot game as a final review. I think we’ll do well on tomorrow’s Common Formative Assessment (CFA — another acronym for education’s alphabet soup).

Homework

  • English 8 Studies: none.
  • English I Honors:
    • review the quiz from today.
    • prepare for the major amount of reading we’ll be doing when we come back from Thanksgiving break by reading a little daily according to the following plan:
      • Day 1: “The Meeting of Father and Son”
      • Day 2: “The Beggar and the Faithful Dog.”
      • Days 3 and 4: “The Epic Continues” and “The Test of the Great Bow”
      • Day 5: “Death at the Palace” Following this plan will mean students have very little to read when they arrive back on Monday  28 November.
