Today we worked on how to parse some of Lee’s longer sentences in the novel. They’ll tend to fade away as we read, but at the moment, we’ve got to work through some pretty complicated sentences.

We talked today about the importance of determining the s-v-o (subject-verb-object) core around which the rest of the sentence forms.

Afterward, we began examining the effect point of view has on the story at hand.

Homework

  • English I Honors: 
    • complete the Romeo and Juliet project;
    • continue reading Mockingbird (try to get a couple of chapters done);
    • prepare for the phrase quiz next week (likely Tuesday);
    • work on sentence work (due next Wednesday);
    • spend some quality time with your family.
