English I Honors students today finished up act 2, watching scenes 4-6 without any text in front of them. It was part practice, part encouragement: students seemed to understand more than they thought they would.

English 8 students went over the questions for the second part of the Frederick Douglass text we’ve been reading after going over a little of the article of the week.

This week, since it’s the first week of Black History Month, I’m making sure the students have exposure to the full text of possibly the greatest speech given in America: Martin Luther King, Jr’s “I Have a Dream” speech.

Homework

  • English 8: work on IXL as needed;
  • English I Honors:
    • begin reviewing the hard song list and the easy song list for the Romeo and Juliet project (check back often as I am still adding songs on a semi-regular basis);
    • work on IXL as needed;
    • complete the comprehension guide for act 2;
    • watch MLK’s “I Have a Dream” speech (some time in the next two weeks).
