English 8 students worked on the final day of their group reading work, tackling Frederick Douglass’s linguistically tricky explanation of the effect slavery had on his owner’s wife as well as on him.

English I Honors worked on the balcony scene for one more day. We analyzed it for

  • elliptical constructions,
  • inversions, and
  • metaphorical language.

Homework

  • English 8: work on IXL as needed.
  • English I Honors:
    • begin reviewing the hard song list and the easy song list for the Romeo and Juliet project (check back often as I am still adding songs on a semi-regular basis);
    • work on IXL as needed;
    • work on the 2.2 comprehension questions for Romeo and Juliet.
