English 8 students were scheduled to take the district-created, district-mandated benchmark test for the second quarter. Due to technical difficulties out of the control of the school or the district, we were unable to take the test. Instead, we continued with yesterday’s work on objective/subjective, expanding it to writing an objective summary. We did a brief overview of the steps then some guided practice with a short article about bullying.

Notes from fifth and sixth period

English I Honors students were able to take the benchmark test, and that’s exactly what we did. However, the district’s plan for their benchmark tests includes an increasing length throughout the year, and as such, this benchmark will take two class periods.
