English 8 Strategies returned to some preparatory work for the ACT-Aspire test in April. We’re working to get some procedures for the test in place and in mind so that we can simply practice them — with and without the time controls — through the next few weeks in regular writing sessions. Today we covered how we’re going to move from the brainstorming to the outline.

English I Honors had one day of in-class planning for the remaining two songs in the soundtrack project. Students had a chance to work with a partner in order to discuss ideas and ask for help. They were somewhat limited in their ability to help each other by the fact that ever student is working on a different song. Still, it provided everyone an opportunity to get some feedback for their ideas, and I had a chance to meet with every single student to make sure they’re on the right track with their planning.

Creative writing students worked with Ms. Icenhour’s class to help get students ready to do some interviewing during an upcoming community-based learning trip.

Homework

  • English I Honors:
    • continue working on the soundtrack project;
    • prepare for tomorrow’s super-quiz on acts four and five.
