English 8 Strategies students worked on identifying and correcting sentence fragments. We’ll have one more day of practice next week with first period and probably two more days with fifth period.

English I Honors students finished up their planning — planning only — of how they would answer a rather tricky essay question we went over yesterday.

Romeo’s final speech is filled with themes and language devices Shakespeare has used throughout the play.

  • Comparisons
  • Personifications
  • Word categories
  • Repetitions
  • Sentence type
  • Personal References

Trace Shakespeare’s use of these themes and literary devices listened below to answer one of the following questions:

  • How does your component reflect Romeo’s mental state?
  • How does it relate to the larger themes of the play?
  • How does it contribute to the effect of Romeo’s final words

The work we did with today’s prompt will help with our next few days of work as we turn to the project, with a break Friday for the act 4/act 5 quiz.

Homework

  • English I Honors:
    • if you have not already chosen your songs, you need to do so at the Moodle site tonight;
    • print and bring the lyrics to your two songs;
    • if not completed,evaluate the ACT-Aspire test for turn-in on Friday.
