First and fifth periods continued working inserting quotes from texts into their own writing. Working in pairs, students searched for a sentence to support the claim that Charlie (from “Flowers for Algernon”) can’t spell very well. All students, with a little time and direction, chose the same sentence, the best sentence to support our claim: “I have a very bad memary for spelling.” The most basic sentence stem we began working with for the second half of class was, “Charlie admits that he has a ‘very bad memary for spelling,'” We’ll finish up the work Monday before moving on to more use of sources.

Second and fourth periods began working to cutting the text of act three, specifically the second through fifth scenes.

Homework

  • First and fifth periods: none.
  • Second and fifth periods: begin reading scenes two through five of act three.
