There are only a few requirements for the portfolio:

• Ten poems
• Each poem must have two of the elements from the poetry graphic organizer.

The Poems

1. Topic: an animal (based on “Cat!”).
   Poetic devices: onomatopoeia and meter.
2. Topic: summary of “Your World.”
   Poetic devices: rhyme and student choice.
3. Type: list poem (based on “Sarah Sylvia Cynthia Stout”).
   Poetic devices: rhyme and meter.
4. Type: Thanksgiving poem.
   Poetic devices: student/class choice.
5. Type: ballad (based on “Boots of Spanish Leather”).
   Poetic devices: rhyme and student choice.
6. Type: month (based on “January”).
   Poetic devices: imagery and student choice.
