First, second, and sixth periods began a new unit on short stories. We initiated the unit today in a fun way: we played Jeopardy. The aim was twofold:

1. Determine how much the students know about the elements of literature specific to short stories.
2. Introduce new terms regarding the about the elements of literature specific to short stories.

Fourth period completed the reading/discussion of To Kill a Mockingbird. We discussed and did some group work on the Mockingbird Times mini-project that we will work on over the next week (primarily at home).

Homework

• First, second, and fourth: complete final draft for Monday.
• Fourth period: complete the writing for the Mockingbird Times project.
