English I
Students began assessing their first analytic Schaffer paragraph. Students will be anonymously assessing each others’ first paragraphs, which we completed yesterday.
Students will need to continue assessing through the weekend: they have a total of three assessments to complete (see homework section below).
English 8
Sixth Period
Sixth-period students worked on their second Schaffer paragraphs, this time writing a trickier paragraph that involves finding evidence from the text we were reading last week, “Thank You, Ma’am” by Langston Hughes.
We worked on using the text to supply the heart of our CDs, reflecting part of the claim we’d written as a group. We’ll be working to finish out the paragraph Monday.
Seventh Period
Students in the final period of the day worked on their first full Schaffer paragraph that doesn’t involve merely reordering sentences or supplying missing commentary. Just as sixth period worked on yesterday, they began creating a paragraph about how to have a successful year in eighth grade.
Homework
- English 8: sixth period: turn in the first Schaffer paragraph on Google Classroom if you have not already.
- English I Honors: complete the three assessments you have on Moodle.
