English I students worked on their lit circles, focusing on one passage in particular after completing their student-led discussion:

“If I blow the conch and they don’t come back; then we’ve had it.”

“If you don’t blow the conch, then we’ll soon be animals anyway.” (92)

Most students are starting to see that things are falling apart and that only Ralph and Piggy realize this. It’s a haunting passage.

We also looked at complex sentences, which have

  • 1 independent clause and
  • 1 or more subjunctive clauses.

Students have the option of additional practice (below).

English 8 students had a final day of rehearsal before the first groups present tomorrow.
