English I students went through act 3 scene 1 today:

Students noted that the situation for Romeo’s and Juliet’s love is now worse in several ways:

1. The Capulets will be out to get Romeo.
2. The Prince has suffered a personal loss and will be less inclined to be merciful.
3. Romeo has to leave Juliet.
4. Juliet will be furious when she finds out what happens.
5. Juliet will find out what happens from her own family rather than from Romeo, so they will bias everything against Romeo.

We’ll be working on the project tomorrow, which will require a good and strong understanding of 3.1, so students need to make sure they complete the homework.
