English 8 students began a two-day independent practice engagement in which students have been working to determine the main idea of a text and then (more challenging — much more) determine how a selected passage from the text contributes to the development of the main idea. In other words, it’s what we did yesterday and Thursday only kids are now doing it on their own.

Fifth- and sixth-period students who were absent can watch this video of the class.

English I kids worked on prepositional phrases today, learning the difference between adjectival and adverbial phrases.

Afterward, students continued working on the research mini-project connected to the Odyssey.
