English I students began a three-week grammar unit in which the goal is simple: reach a point that students can describe the function of each and every word in a given sentence. To that end, we looked today at verbs, specifically the difference between action and linking verbs and the composition of verb phrases.
English 8 students continued working on poetry. We went through the figurative language we’d found before Thanksgiving in the poem “The Black Land” and determined how it works and what new meaning it provides.
We’ll be completing the evaluation of the first poem tomorrow.
