English 8 students had their first Socratic Seminar about “Thank You, Ma’am.” Both fifth and sixth periods did a fine job, but sixth period’s seminar was perhaps the best first-time seminar I’ve ever seen.

English I Honors students went over “The Most Dangerous Game,” looking at the question of how the setting and plot are related. Students received the assignment (“Write a single analytic Schaffer paragraph looking that the relationship between the plot and the setting in ‘The Most Dangerous Game'”), shook their heads at the apparent vagueness, then discussed the problem in groups of four and not surprisingly came up with three possible ways of tackling the problem.
