English I students built the foundation for a quick one-week unit on research and inquiry skills/standards. We’ll be using the tragedy of Emmett Till and its effect on the Civil Rights movement as our topic for developing inquiry questions this week.
English 8 students will be having a test on the poetry/figurative language unit we began a couple of weeks ago, but for now, we’re focusing on the ballad form. There’s a certain irony in that, but students won’t get that until a little later in the week.
Homework
- English 8: review and prepare for the test on Friday.
- English I Honors:
- review the lyrics from Bob Dylan’s “The Death of Emmett Till“;
- make sure you have 12-15 questions you’d like answered from the three sources we had on Emmett Till;
- continue working on sentence identification exercises on IXL(due Friday).
