English 8 students finished up a couple of days working with voice, tone, diction, audience, and author’s purpose — they’re all related, and IXL does a good job of combining them, so we spent some time in class practicing that.

English I Honors students worked with their partners to link their songs in the Romeo and Juliet projects. We spent yesterday practicing it as a class (see notes). We came up with this transition:

Astrology is not the only factor in the play that robs people of control. The very feud itself, with its ancient roots, takes control of some characters. They feel compelled to fight even though they don’t know why they are fighting. The next song deals with this loss of control from the feud.

Today we worked on our own paragraphs.

Homework

  • English 8 Studies: none.
  • English I Honors: work on the Romeo and Juliet project.
Class Notes

Notes for the day's classes are available here.

Please note that this is a composite file including notes from all classes, though occasionally it might only be one or two classes. I don't differentiate in the file; that is up to you to do.
