English 8 students took a brief look at subordinate clauses as we build skills to parse the difficult writing we’re finding in Frederick Douglass’s autobiography.
Today was just general practice; tomorrow, we’ll be applying it to another excerpt from Douglass’s biography.
English I Honors students worked on parallel structure again for just a bit, this time looking at how we’ll be applying it for the rest of the year — much simpler than how we’ve been applying it to Shakespeare.
We also turned in our “Decoration Day” paragraphs and learned how to assess them.
Homework
- English 8: complete through 12 on the subordinate clause practice (from today).
- English I Honors:
- turn in your “Decoration Day” paragraphs (as needed);
- prepare for the test tomorrow by reviewing phrases on IXL (as needed);
- prepare for the test tomorrow by reviewing material covered during RJ act 3.
