English I students began a quick review of research. Today we just went over the topic of the research paper, the murder of Emmett Till. We read an informational text, looked at a three-minute portion of a documentary, and listened to Bob Dylan’s “Death of Emmett Till” to form some background knowledge.

English 8 students began our final week of figurative language work by looking at a poem by Amy Lowell, a 19th-century American poet. We worked on the simile together:

Then students worked with partners to finish the metaphor. We worked on personification and hyperbole together to conclude class.
