English Studies students (fifth period) began chapter five in Nightjohn, and we began slowly transitioning our effective reader skills/”It Says, I Say” work to its intended end: small discussion groups. We’ll be using these skills, in written and spoken form, for the rest of the year, so we need to have them mastered by the end of this first quarter.

English Strategies students (fourth period) began using the “It Says/I Say” engagement in its written form with chapter four. We’ll be spending a couple of days on mastering those skills.

English I Honors had a final day of assessing and planning before we hit the big project tomorrow. Crunch time!

Homework

  • English 8 Studies: none.
  • English I Honors:
    • assess “Amontillado” by tomorrow;
    • be ready to turn in the irony/symbolism paragraph by tomorrow evening.
