English I students worked in class on their final Schaffer paragraphs for the short story unit. They’re writing on symbolism and irony in “The Gift of the Magi” or “The Necklace.” Students have until the end of advisory tomorrow to complete the work.

English 8 students worked with diction and voice in Nightjohn. We examined some passages in which the author’s word choice helps make the narrator sound like a slave.

We’ll be working on this for the rest of the novel, eventually writing analytic papers about it.
