All classes today worked on Schaffer paragraphs to some degree or other. Fourth and fifth periods worked on their analytic paragraphs about “The Cask of Amontillado” and the question of whether or not we can trust the narrator. Students should have completed:
- their topic sentences
- their CD quotes
- some idea of what they’re going to write in their CM
Sixth- and seventh-period students began by going over the last article of the week to see what they’d missed and what I was hoping they would see regarding context clues.
Afterward, sixth period worked on their Schaffer paragraphs which analyze the change in Roger’s view of himself. Students should have completed
- their topic sentences with two things to prove;
- at least one quote for at least one CD
Seventh-period students worked on using quotes from the text in their concrete details.
My Promethean board was acting up, hence the doubled-up writing. We’ll be applying this to our paragraphs from last week about Mrs. Jones’s motivation for helping Roger in “Thank You, Ma’am.”
