All students went to the library today. We’ll be looking to have two One-Pager assignments this quarter.
English I spent the rest of the class period going over meter — a very fast overview to make sure students understand what iambic pentameter is when we begin Shakespeare.
English 8 students worked on their Nightjohn final project today, looking at the three ways in which the author creates the voice of a slave:
- Use of diction
- Unconventional grammar
- Use of sentence fragments
Students will be writing two of these three topics. We began planning topic sentences for each, with the first one being: “The author uses diction to show how Sarny is an uneducated slave.”
