English I Honors
Students worked on their first Schaffer paragraphs. At first, I think they weren’t quite sure where we were going with the work — it seemed to be a little unfocused at first, but there was a reason for that apparent chaos: it showed students how the planning process can feel a little confused, a little directionless at times.
We’ll be applying this technique to a new story later this week, and students will actually be doing the planning and writing then.
English 8
Students in English Studies completed our study of “Thank You, Ma’am,” examining how the story answers some of the questions students had been pondering, like what Roger tells the truth when asked if he’ll run away: it establishes him as an inherently good person, and this makes more credible the change we see in Mrs. Jones.
Afterward, we finished up our introduction to the effective readers’ skills we’ll be using all year with a Gimkit game of “Among Us.”
Homework
- English 8 Studies: none.
- English I Honors: work on the AOW as necessary as it will be due Friday.
