English Strategies (fourth period) students began the book Nightjohn and began writing their first journal response. Tomorrow they’ll finish up their first journal response and then start a lesson on voice (see below).

English Studies (fifth period) students took yesterday’s work on Nightjohn and looked at the question of voice in the novel: how does the author make Sarny sound like a slave girl?

English I Honors students had a final day of pair work getting ready their first analytic paragraph on either “Harrison Bergeron” or “The Most Dangerous Game.” We weren’t going to spend all period on it, but everyone was still struggling a bit more than I wanted to see, so we indeed spent the whole class period working on it.
