While looking through old pictures, I happened upon this photo from a memorable ride and thought I would share it for those students who have expressed an interest in cycling.

This was in 2004, in northern Slovakia, having just crossed over the border from Poland. My wife and I had just ridden over those mountains in the background at a crossing just off-picture to the left.

It really wasn’t that bad of a ride, though — the mountains look more intimidating than they were where we crossed.

Only a gain of roughly 650 meters, with category four and five climbs.
