First and sixth periods began Nightjohn. We’ll be working on voice with the unit as well as some of the common reading skills: making inferences, drawing conclusions, and the like.

Second and sixth periods went over the homework from yesterday and began working on how to integrate quotes into their writing.

Homework
  • First period: define the unknown word you recorded in your notes
  • Second and fourth period:
    • Complete writing assignment begun in class.
    • Print a copy to bring to class and also
    • Turn in online here.
  • Sixth period: write a description of something or tell a short anecdote (story) two times:
    • The first time, make it sound like Sarny (from Nightjohn) is saying it.
    • The second time, make it sound like someone else that is unidentified yet identifiable. (Possibilities include: a homeless person; a well-educated engineer; someone from the future; someone from the past)
