Second and sixth periods worked on interjections, finishing up the parts of speech review (“Finally!” I’m sure everyone’s saying). I tried a novel way of going over it: oxymoronically rambling with a purpose. I told some silly story, but I tried to use as many interjections as possible. Students caught on shortly, and soon they were taking notes of the interjections they were hearing.

We’ll be having a test on Friday.

Nazi Propaganda

First period finished up the anticipatory lesson for Nightjohn. We had discussion practice and made some predictions about the book based on the anticipatory set and the book cover, which students passed around as we reviewed small group discussions.

Fourth period went over propaganda. We watched a few selections from films and examined some of the Nazi propaganda about Jews (see right). We’re slowly working toward a class definition of propaganda.

Homework
  • First period: none.
  • Second and sixth periods: study for test on Friday.
  • Fourth period:
    • revise personal definition of propaganda;
    • work on project.
