Second and sixth periods had quizzes on nouns, adjective, and adverbs. We’ll begin verbs tomorrow, and hopefully finish up the parts of speech unit on time next Friday.

First period continued with adverbs. We’ll finish them up tomorrow, as well as conjunctions and interjections. We’ll review Tuesday and have a test Wednesday.

Fourth period worked with bias and connotation. We’ll be looking for examples of bias (both liberal and conservative) in the media next week, so the homework is to help students orient themselves on the political spectrum. (Someone who leans to the left is less likely to see liberal bias, and someone who leans to the right is less likely to see conservative bias. Knowing which way one’s political inclinations lean will help with the search for bias.)

Homework
  • First, second, and sixth periods: none.
  • Fourth period:
    • take the two political quizzes on the Courses site;
    • write a one-hundred word response about the results: where they what you expected? Were there any surprises? (Bring this tomorrow to class.)
