First period was due to work on adverbs. Instead, we went on a little bird walk, though not entirely. I’ve found that ironically students do best when working on parts of speech with nonsense words. I’ve come to the conclusion that all the mental baggage that accompanies known words tends to confuse the students. We’ll get back on track tomorrow.
Second and sixth periods went over prepositions and prepositional phrases.
Fourth period, starting a new unit on bias and propaganda, learned about denotation and connotation.
Homework
First period: test on parts of speech coming up.
Second and sixth periods: quiz tomorrow on nouns, pronouns, adjectives and prepositions.
