  1. I’d love to know more about how you teach commentary to students. My students are really struggling with this idea.

  2. Two things: first, have them think of the commentary as explaining how the CD supports the TS. I always sit with one or two and ask them about their selected CD: “How exactly does that prove X?” They give me a few ideas, and I smile and say, “There — clean that up and you’ve got your commentary.” A second way: use sentence starters for CMs.

    Things like that. One of the two usually works.
