An example of an excellent student paragraph:

In the story The Necklace Mme. Loisel feels that the necklace will bring her the life that she covets but the irony in this story does just the opposite. For instance, when she arrived at the reception wearing it “she was the prettiest one there…and wild with joy” she states that “all the men turned to look at her begging to be introduced.” She gave all the credit to the necklace because she associated it with belonging to the upper class, this was the first step to the life she always wanted. It’s ironic because she was still the same poor person and she thought that this one necklace made her rich for a night. Another example, is when she lost the necklace and had to “pay it back for 10 years” which put her in “times of misfortune” even though Forestier’s was a fake. The irony was this necklace that she said brought her into the upper class actually caused her to become even poorer. Even more ironic, was that she had to pay all this money for a real one when the one she was replacing was a fake.

Well done.
