Second period looked at one of the major motifs in The Giver: conformity versus diversity.

Fourth period began looking at characterization and how Dickens creates his characters.

  • finish reading through page 137;
  • prepare for quiz on reading.
• Second period: read chapter 12.
• Fourth period: begin reading further (you’ll need to have through chapter 38 by Monday).
