Borders are strange things — they can turn our perceptions on our heads. Take Poland and Slovakia, for example.

We generally think of Slovakia as south of Poland because, well, it is. But there are a few points of the border near where I lived and my wife grew up where the border follows a stream for a while. The result: you can travel north from Poland and arrive in Slovakia.

And there’s one spot where you can go either north or south to reach Slovakia.
