20
school days left
The day started with the yearly visit from Mr. Jim Bannister, a local attorney who walks the students through the trial in To Kill a Mockingbird. He helps students discover new evidence and explains the significance of the evidence.
Having been involved in similar cases, Mr. Bannister brings a unique perspective to the students and helps them see that, while Atticus Finch was a good human being, he was not a good criminal defense attorney.
This was all during advisory. During English I class, students continued working on their Lord of the Flies reading and discussion.
English 8 students read act 2 scene 3 of The Diary of Anne Frank with a fair amount of enthusiasm: it’s fun reading a part that involves yelling.
