English I students finished the in-class instruction/overview for the parts of speech work we’ve been doing. We’ll have a test on the material some time in the next couple of weeks after a bit of in-class practice.

We also had a quick group discussion on “The Necklace” regarding irony and symbolism after we had a short quiz on the story. Students who felt they didn’t do as good of a job as they wished will have a chance to improve the grade tomorrow when we have the second quiz, which will be on “Gift of the Magi.”

English 8 students completed chapter 1 from Nightjohn in group discussion today, using their “It Says/I Say” graphic organizer to prepare for the short discussions they had as they read the chapter.

  • complete No Red Ink work as necessary;
  • complete preposition and pronoun work on Moodle as necessary;
