English Strategies and English Studies students returned to The Diary of Anne Frank and worked on the first scene of act two. We’re using a “Somebody Wanted But So” graphic organizer to monitor comprehension.
English I Honors students began a multi-day lesson in which we learned how to cut Shakespeare’s plays into shorter versions. First, we did some cutting:
Afterward, we extrapolated some guidelines for cutting the text from the experience.
Tomorrow, groups will be looking to cut the text of act three.
Homework
- English 8:
- finish reading act 2 scene 1 of Diary of Anne Frank;
- complete today’s “Somebody Wanted But So” graphic organizer.
- English I Honors:
- read scenes 2, 3, and 5 of act 3, paying particularly close attention to the scenes you were assigned to cut tomorrow;
- continue working on the “Decoration Day” assignment, which will be due Thursday;
- continue working on all the extra credit opportunities, all of which will be due next Thursday.
