English Studies students (fifth period) had a second (and likely final) day of preparation for their inaugural presentation of The Diary of Anne Frank. We’ll likely take a few minutes tomorrow to prepare before presenting.
English Strategies students (fourth period) finished up yesterday’s text.
English I Honors took a second day with Hamlet’s famous soliloquy in act three scene one by comparing five — count them, five — different versions of the performance:
- Kenneth Branaugh (1996)
- Lawrence Olivier (1948)
- Mel Gibson (1990)
- Richard Burton (1964)
- David Tennant (2009)
We’ll be finishing up tomorrow.
Homework
- English 8: complete the individual and team planning guides as needed (at Google Classroom).
- English I Honors:
- continue working on the sonnet;
- vote on which performance you thought was most natural and which was least natural;
- be prepared to make your argument about the most natural/least natural performances. (You’ll need to have specific examples from the films to back up your claims.)
