English I Honors students finished up working with villanelles in anticipation of writing a much more challenging poem, a sonnet, in a couple of weeks. Afterward, we returned to the question of meter in poetry, which we will finish up next week as we work on our projects.
English 8 Strategies had double duty today as we combined our Wednesday sentence work with our Thursday grammar focus.
With the latter, we covered linking verbs.
Creative writing students continued existing projects.
Homework
- English I Honors:
- listen to the student samples of presentations in class today to get some idea of what to do (and possibly not to do) during your poetry project;
- visit the Poetry Foundation’s web site in order to choose a poem for the poetry project. (This is subject to my approval, and tomorrow is the last day I will be checking these poems.)
