First and fourth periods returned to Lord of the Flies and the question of what an allegory is. We accomplished this by continuing our examination of Plato’s “Allegory of the Cave.” After marking the text a bit more, we viewed a claymation interpretation of the text.
Finally, we completed the day with a mini-Socratic Seminar about what the various elements in the text (the shadow, the chains, the prisoners, the fire, etc.)

Second and seventh periods continued with a close reading of a pivotal passage in Flowers for Algernon.
We worked to identify antecedents of pronouns we’d previously marked. The ability to determine antecedents is often critical to understanding a difficult text.
