English 8 unexpectedly moved Friday to Tuesday: due to the number of absent students (nine students absent out of thirty) in seventh period (now meeting during fourth period) , we elected to hold off on “The Tell-Tale Heart” since we’ll have a unit test on it. It’s easier to catch up students with parts of speech than a short story that we’re annotating and summarizing.
English I students finished up “Sonnet 29” by outlining the structure of a sonnet:
- Three quatrains and a couplet
- The first two quatrains set up a problem
- The third quatrain usually continues with the problem but occasionally serves as a transition between the problem and the solution
- The couplet includes the solution
