We had a great first day, with all classes up and working on various skills from the beginning.

English I Honors students dove right into the writing model we will be using this year, the Schaffer Model. They will be focusing on it for the remainder of the week.

English 8 students looked at inferring (though we didn’t call it that — we will apply the label tomorrow) about the class based on a variety of types of evidence.

Journalism students looked at the process of creating an article and began getting into the nitty-gritty of how we’ll run this business.

Homework

• English 8: complete the handout about assumptions and general information about you.
• English I Honors: complete the 500-word essay for tomorrow. Please deal with 1) anything you might want me to know about you and English and 2) anything you just want me to know about you.
