English 8 students had another day of work on motifs in Nightjohn.

English I Honors students added another poem to their tone work, looking at “The Lanyard” by Billy Collins. We also listened to a recording of Collins reading  his own poem.

Homework

• English 8: 
  • complete the participle practice I handed back yesterday;
  • work on the article of the week as necessary.
• English I Honors: 
  • work on IXL (skills B.4, C.2, and C3 under ninth-grade ELA skills);
  • review the poem and the performance: how do we know that Collins expected laughter at the moments it occurred?
