Fourth period English I Honors students began the second writing assignment for Lord of the Flies. Students will be using five principles of sociology to examine the following passage:
Roger gathered a handful of stones and began to throw them. Yet there was a space round Henry, perhaps six yards in diameter, into which he dare not throw. Here, invisible yet strong, was the taboo of the old life. Round the squatting child was the protection of parents and school and policemen and the law.
Students in sixth period English I Honors began their second possible project argumentative topic, looking at the tragic death of Emmett Till. We’ll work on it a little more tomorrow before taking a break from Mockingbird to turn to ACT-Aspire test prep, as will fourth period.
Students English 8 Strategies walked through a practice test. We’ll be working for the next three weeks preparing for the ACT-Aspire test.
