As it’s Monday, English 8 Strategies students returned to the argument. We looked at a new murder mystery for students to solve and had some pair work as students developed an argument about the murder of Amy LaTour.

English I Honors students began the new unit on poetry, answering the EQ, “How is poetry from different forms of writing?” In an almost predictable way, we answered the question with — wait for it — a poem, “Because You Asked about the Line Between Prose and Poetry” by Howard Nemerov.

Homework

• English I Honors: 
  • complete short story project (due Friday);
  • rereading the text on poetry we began in class, put a check mark by each topic we covered in class;
  • answer the following questions about the informational text about poetry: What were 2-5 useful things you learned from this article? What were 1-3 things about the article that confused you?
